This Community Interest Company (CIC) was set up in 2022 after our family suffered the loss of our nine-year-old boy called Frankie, who was tragically killed by a dog when left alone in a caravan.
The aim is to help families when they are losing or have lost a child.
The objective is to help with the day to day financial burdens in the early stages of coming to terms with their loss or preparing for inevitable circumstances that they must face and cannot possibly be prepared for. Being unable to work and faced with such heartache, the absence of such support for families is an experience Frankie's Superheroes do not wish other families to agonise over. There are many other channels of help and support, but to Frankie’s family during their suffering they struggled to find assistance for day to day financial costs or for the assistance of a liaison support worker to take care of these things for them, even for a short amount of time to let them grieve, the reality of ‘life goes on’ became surreal, and it’s those daily tasks that took a toll on them emotionally, mentally and financially; this is something you cannot be prepared for.
Frankie’s Superheroes want to share their experience and assist in alleviating the strain of the journey by compiling a record of all those people, services, businesses, information, advice, and guidance from those who helped or assisted through every part of that journey from the start.
Frankie’s superheroes also would like to support family members with special gifts while they are faced with dealing with other siblings who are sadly watching this sadness unfold in front of them, such as something that will be remembered by the grieving child or children – a day out, a visit of a superhero, a family meal, something most people take for granted as the appearance may be small but the value is enormous to whom receives it.
The final objective is to open a CIC shop that will supply things for children, from clothes to toys and many other items these children need to comfort their journey and lift the strain for the families who sometimes cannot provide at this time. As we grow, we aim to assist families with headstones.
So this year we will be doing another memorial match for Frankies super hero on the 16th July at 10am at Westonmill Football pitch.
Would there be any local companies big or small that would love to help a great cause. This will help other children and parents in need.
